We just started a new survey about what forms of stevia you use. As we got many comments on the usage of Stevia, we would like to know how and how much you use it. Some people seem to use too much of the powder for example. This makes the aftertaste bitter. We plan to publish more information on the home usage of Stevia in future, so your comments will help us. Please take part in the survey and comment ;)

Recently found a box of Stevia on the shelves with the vitamins at our local Wal-Mart store. I was hesitant to try it simply because of the cost at $6.00 a box of 100 packets. I don’t use sugar and hate the taste of the artificial sweeteners. I love coffee but have to sweeten it up and decided to try the Stevia. The initial taste was a little odd but now that I have gotten use to the flavor I won’t use anything but in my coffee. I am able to have 3 to 4 cups of coffee from one single .035oz (1g) packet. I love the fact that it is all natural.

I have been using Truvia for the past few weeks and have been having TRRIBLE headaches, which I never get. I rarely get headaches. My husband, who is a doctor, was worried about my sudden heada aches. We started discussing what I may have been doing different….I realized the only thing I had changed was switching to Truvia ( put it in 2-3 cups of coffee I drank a day). I was also VERY tired. I stopped taking it and have not had one headache and energy is back to normal. hmmmmm.

Actually Truvia is a sweetener based on Stevia. It has been developed by Coca Cola and cargill.
Many of the symptoms you are experiencing are probably caused by something else, but you should definitely stop using it and asking your doctor first, just to be sure.
The sugar replacements can cause more weight gain, not because of the calories but because they’re said to make you hungry for sugar, but normally you should save calories, using sweeteners like Stevia.

Started using Stevia in my tea in July. Noticed mild pulpations, which progressive became more severe, particularly at night. (Always have cup of tea before bed). Did not connect Stevia with plupations until I recently run out of Stevia and noticed that Pulpations have gone?

I guess they came not from stevia, people often tend to see the “simplest” explanation as the truth. But you can never be totally sure, so you should just ask your doctor before continuing using stevia.
Did you probably also drink less tea when running out of stevia? Probably the Tea makes a problem?

I use 1/32 (estimating here but it is much much less than 1/4 teaspoon) in making tea and homemade hot chocolate. I was using 2 tsp of sugar before for these beverages, but then I saw Dr Lustig’s video on UCTV and read even more research on the health issues with sugar and was convinced of the need to find a healthy alternative. In the past I had tried Stevia but used too much and experienced the bitter after taste. So this time I greatly reduced the amt I used and it is great. No side effects. I have yet to use it for baking but intend to do so soon.
